The White Dance

In the manner of Lucinda Childs

1986, Loretto Heights College, Denver, Colorado

I made The White Dance shortly after I'd seen Lucinda Child's company in NYC and taken a workshop with her.  Derivative though it was at the time, the work gave me a fresh sense of what choreography could be.

I needed to make a dance that was mentally as well as physically rigorous so I used Philip Glass's music as a rhythmic and structural challenge.
