Video Portrait

Cori Olinghouse, Danspace Project, 2013, NYC

The Structure:

The performer makes a solo with a live-feed of herself projected behind. (2 min.)

A second solo with live-feed is projected with the recorded first solo. (2 min.)

A third solo with live-feed is projected with the recorded first and second solos. (2 min.)

The accumulated 3 solos are then shown without the live dancer. This is a Video Portrait. (6 min.)

A performance of Video Portraits consists of 3 portraits of 3 different dancers. (≈20 min.)

The Installation consists of the 3 Video Portraits projected large on 3 adjacent walls.

Each wall has a video portrait of one performer. (6 min. loop)

Additional performances with different performers will increase the length and content of the installation. Each performance of 20 minutes includes 3 different performers.

One performance - an installation of a 6 minute loop on 3 walls, 3 performers.

Two performances - an installation of a 12 minute loop on 3 walls, 6 performers.

Three performances - an installation of an 18 minute loop on 3 walls, 9 performers.
